A man complained to the Press Complaints Commission through O Muirigh Solicitors about an article based on an interview the newspaper had conducted with him, in which he alleged harassment by police intelligence officers. The complainant expressed concern under Clause 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice that, in spite of an express agreement between himself and the newspaper, it had proceeded to publish details about his brother.

The newspaper did not accept that there had been any agreement that the complainant's brother would not be mentioned. However, the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated a private letter for the complainant, in which the newspaper expressed regret for the distress caused.
