Complainant Name:
A man

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: The Scottish Sun

Complaint:

A man complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice about articles which claimed he had sexual intercourse whilst on duty as a police officer. The complainant was concerned that the claim had been stated as fact, when it was an allegation which he denied.

Resolution:

The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online articles, as well as an undertaking that - should the newspaper refer to the allegation in future - it would include his denial.
