Complainant Name:
Mr Andrew Copland

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Mr Andrew Copland complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the article had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complainant felt that the article had suggested a correlation between wind farms and climate change. He said that the NASA research paper reported in the article only found warmer air in the immediate vicinity around wind farms; as such, the warming effect was one without global implications.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the headline to the online article to ‘Wind farms raise local temperature at night'.
