Full Fact complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had incorrectly reported that the cost of living dropped 3% in April 2012 in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. In fact, CPI inflation had dropped from 3.5% to 3% which meant that the cost of living dropped by just half a per cent.

The newspaper acknowledged the inaccuracy and explained that it had published subsequent articles that referred to the correct figure. The complaint was resolved when it amended the online article appropriately and published the following footnote:

The headline to this article was amended on 11 June. It previously included an erroneous figure in reference to the fall in inflation.
