Complainant Name:
Full Fact

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Complaint:

Full Fact complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an inaccurate article in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the article had incorrectly claimed that incidents from the riots had been "airbrushed" from official crime figures.

Resolution:

The newspaper maintained that its article represented legitimate comment on the manner in which offences committed during the riots had been recorded. However, in order to resolve the complaint, it removed the reference to the figures being "airbrushed" from the online article.
