Complainant Name:
Mr Oliver Gray

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Complaint:

Mr Oliver Gray complained on behalf of Lizzy Dive to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. He was concerned that the newspaper had incorrectly claimed that Ms Dive, who had been playing Mrs Twit in a stage production of the Twits, had sustained concussion when accidently hit by a kettle.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following wording in the newspaper:

"Following our article of 19 June which reported Lizzy Dive, an actress who was playing Mrs Twit on stage, had sustained concussion from being hit by a kettle, we are happy to make clear that Ms Dive did not suffer concussion, but only minor bruising".
