Complainant Name:
Mr James Lattimore

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Mr James Lattimore complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) in a comment piece about gay marriage. He was particularly concerned that the newspaper had inaccurately stated that Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, had suggested that the state could force churches to hold gay wedding ceremonies. In fact, he had categorically ruled out forcing churches to marry same-sex couples.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated an online clarification and a printed correction.
