Ms Deborah Koder on behalf of an asylum seeker complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article reporting on his asylum claim which inaccurately referred to him as "illegal", in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article to remove the reference to illegality and the offer of a clarification from the newspaper, in addition to a private letter to the complainant and an assurance that the newspaper would endeavour not to refer to asylum seekers as "illegal" in future.
