Complainant Name:
Mrs Sarah Catt

Clauses Noted: 1, 3, 4, 9

Publication: Daily Mail

Mrs Sarah Catt complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article reporting on her court case which intruded into her privacy in breach of Clause 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice; named unrelated members of her family in breach of Clause 9 (Reporting of Crime) of the Code; and contained inaccuracies in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Code. She also complained that the newspaper had breached Clause 4 (Harassment) of the Code.

While the newspaper did not accept a breach of the Code, the complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article, and the placing of a note on the newspaper's files with respect to future reporting of the matter.
