Complainant Name:
Mr Adrian Jenkin

Clauses Noted: 3, 5

Publication: Newquay Voice

Mr Adrian Jenkin complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 3 (Privacy) and Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) about an article which reported on the inquest into the death of Mr Edward Ernest Quinton. The complainant was concerned that the coverage was insensitive, and had been given undue prominence in the newspaper.

The matter was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology in a subsequent edition:

Last week the Newquay Voice published a report of the inquest held into the death of Cubert resident Edward Ernest Quinton. We now fully accept that in doing so we added to the distress already suffered by Mr Quinton's family and we sincerely apologise.
