Mr Joseph O'Leary on behalf of Full Fact complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an article regarding a report on problem households which contained inaccuracies and was misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.


The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification:

An article on 18 July detailed the findings of a government report designed to highlight some of the issues affecting an alleged 120,000 families deemed as ‘troubled' in the UK. We are happy to clarify that the report was based solely on interviews with 16 of these families and the information was not representative of the 120,000 families.
