Wendi Titmus

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Halesowen News

Complaint:

Wendi Titmus complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code by publishing an article which, in her view, suggested to readers that a charge had been brought against her son following an allegation of assault when this was not the case.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following clarifying footnote alongside the online article:

"We have been asked to point out that there was never any legal action against the victim, Tyler Kimberly, as a result of the allegation of assault against a young woman."
