Complainant Name:
Mrs Carol Collier

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Ilford Recorder

Mrs Carol Collier complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had inaccurately stated that she had pleaded guilty to five offences, when in fact she had been found guilty by the jury.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction and apology:

In an article dated September 20 about the release from prison of Carol Collier, we incorrectly started she had admitted five offences. She had in fact pleaded not guilty but was found guilty by a jury. We apologise for the error and any upset caused.
