Ms Christine Kwiecinski

Clauses Noted: 1, 2, 4, 12

Publication: Daily Mail

Ms Christine Kwiecinski complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clauses 1 (Accuracy), 2 (Opportunity to reply), 4 (Harassment) and 12 (Discrimination) of the Editors' Code of Practice about her image appearing in an article featuring ‘high school yearbook photos'. The complainant, who was blind in one eye, expressed concern about the use of her photograph appearing with a caption which described her as having a lazy eye.

The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated the deletion of the photograph from the newspaper's system, together with a private letter of apology for the upset caused.
