Complainant Name:
Paul Boseley

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Complaint:

Paul Boseley complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, as it had published an article on a trial in 2007 in which it appeared that he was guilty of rape but failed to report on a retrial in which he was found not guilty.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification at the end of the online story reporting on the 2007 trial:

Since this case was first reported on 31 July 2007, Paul Boseley successfully appealed against his original conviction and was acquitted of rape by a jury at a retrial on 21 July 2008.
