Complainant Name:
Ms Lesley Shaw

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: Daily Record

Ms Lesley Shaw complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article, which she considered to have been inaccurate and intrusive, in breach of Clauses 1 (Accuracy) and 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The article reported on the complainant's eventful journey home, aboard an American Airlines flight. She objected to the publication of her photograph, and she said it was not the case that ‘smoke billow[ed]' into the cabin of the plane, following an electrical fault. The complainant also said that Glasgow was not her home town.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper removed the online article, as a gesture of goodwill.
