Complainant Name:
Mr Joe Cooke

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Mr Joe Cooke complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, about an article which had inaccurately reported that he had been shown in a documentary travelling in a Rolls Royce, and sporting a silver suit and silver-topped cane.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification:

Joe Cooke

"I was bullied out of Oxford for being Tory" (Dec 1) said that Mr Cooke, a former president of the Oxford University Conservative Association, had featured in a documentary about Conservative students travelling in a Rolls-Royce sporting a silver suit and silver-topped cane. We are happy to make clear that Mr Cooke did not appear as such in the film.
