Complainant Name:
Mr Andrew Marshall

Clauses Noted: 1, 2, 3, 4

Publication: Grimsby Telegraph

Mr Andrew Marshall complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clauses 1 (Accuracy), 2 (Opportunity to reply), 3 (Privacy), and 4 (Harassment) of the Editors' Code of Practice, about an article which reported that his business was closing down. He explained that this was inaccurate, as the running of the business was in fact being taken over by his wife, and was also concerned that the information published had been taken from a Facebook page which he considered to have been private.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification:

The Telegraph has been asked to inform its readers that the Cleethorpes removal firm, Marshall's Removals and Clearances, is still in operation. The firm's co-owner Andrew Marshall decided to step down due to ill health in January, however his wife Faye has taken over and the company is continuing to trade as normal. We apologise for any confusion caused by the publication of any previous articles.
