Complainant Name:
Miss Katey Walker

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Miss Katey Walker complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which she claimed was inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The article in question reported on the snowfall which affected much of the United Kingdom in February 2013, and included a picture of the city of York blanketed in snow. According to the complainant, however, there was no snow in York.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction:

An earlier version of this report contained an image with a caption stating that York Minister was snowed in by adverse weather conditions on 4, February 2013. We are happy to clarify that the image was in fact of an earlier snowy York scene and apologise if trade in the town was affected.
