Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Mrs Melanie Taylor complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which was, in her view, inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

While it was correct for the newspaper to have reported that ‘racehorses Synchronized and According to Pete were put down' at the 2012 Grand National, it was not the case that ‘a further four animals died during the three day meeting'.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article.
