Complainant Name:
Mr Andrew Larkey

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Mr Andrew Larkey complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which he considered had inaccurately reported an incident in which an emergency exit was alleged to have partially opened on board an Airbus A380. The complainant did not consider that it was possible for the door to have opened, or that reported details about a drop in cabin temperature were plausible. The complainant was also concerned that a photograph was described as showing the interior of the aeroplane in Hong Kong, when the employee pictured was wearing a uniform from an airport in Thailand. The complainant therefore considered that the article had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved following the removal of the photograph from the online article.
