Complainant Name:
Ms Debra Mackrell

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Ms Debra Mackrell complained about an article which was, in her view, inaccurate and intrusive in breach of Clauses 1 (Accuracy) and 3 (Privacy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The article reported that the complainant had been arrested ‘for abusing [a] train guard while drunk'.

According to the complainant, the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence at trial to support its case, and so the matter was dropped.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following statement:

Following an adjournment, the CPS have now withdrawn the charges against Ms Mackrell.
