Ms Savitri Hensman

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Ms Savitri Hensman complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy), that an article, published by the newspaper, had inaccurately reported that in half of cases Disability Living Allowance is awarded without any medical evidence.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction:

An article on February 25 stated that half of all decisions on Disability Living Allowance are made ‘without any medical evidence'. We are happy to clarify that this referred to any additional information above that already declared on application forms and any accompanying reports for GPs, consultants or other health professionals.
