Miss Emma Dixon

Clauses Noted: 1, 5

Publication: Daily Mail

Miss Emma Dixon complained to the Press Complaints Commission, about an article which reported on the death of her housemate. The complainant was concerned that the newspaper had misleadingly suggested that the residents of the house had "failed to realise" the death of their friend, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, and that this suggestion had intruded into their grief, in breach of Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock).

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the removal of this reference from the online article.
