Mr Jacek Cichosz

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Mr Jacek Cichosz complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published an error in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant was concerned that the newspaper had referred in an online article to Auschwitz as a "Polish death camp", which was wholly inaccurate. In fact, the camp was built, run and managed by Germans.

The reference had been an error and removed as soon as the editor became aware of it. The complaint was resolved when the newspaper published the following apology:

An earlier version of this article mistakenly referred to Auschwitz as a "Polish death camp". We apologise for this error.
