The Chief Executive Officer of Noveprim Group complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice about an article which reported on the euthanasia of macaque monkeys at a breeding centre in Mauritius. The complainant expressed particular concern about a claim that the monkeys had been destroyed because they were an inappropriate size for testing in British laboratories, stating that the action was, in fact, a sanitary measure to prevent the spread of bovine tuberculosis.

While the newspaper did not accept that it had breached the Editors' Code, the matter was resolved when it agreed to remove the piece from its website.
