Wonga complained to the Press Complaints Commission through Lewis Silkin solicitors about an article discussing the company and its founders, Errol Damelin and Jonty Hurwitz. The complainant expressed concern under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice that the article contained a number of misleading statements, including an assertion that an advertising campaign had been ‘criticised by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) as being particularly aggressive'.

The matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated an amendment to the online article to remove the reference to OFT criticism of its advertising campaign.
