Andrew Green complained to the Press Complaints Commission on behalf of Sarah Warren that the newspaper's coverage of a car rally held in honour of Ms Warren's young son contained an inaccuracy in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. Concern was also raised about the newspaper's failure to obtain express consent from Ms Warren to publish the story about her son's welfare, including photographs of the child.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online article, a private letter of apology for the complainant and the publication of the following clarification and apology:

On 31 December, 2012 we published an article ‘Rallying round for Connor: Dying 12-year-old's wish comes true when 4,000 car fans turn up at motoring event in his honour' which incorrectly stated that Mr Scott Harrison was Connor's father. We are happy to clarify that Mr Harrison is not Connor's biological father and we did not get permission from Connor's mother, Sarah Warren, to publish the story. We apologise to Ms Warren for the distress caused by the story.
