Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Dr Dharmesh Mistry of Heaton Medical Centre complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that a doctor had committed crimes involving sexual assault and neglect at the surgery in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy).

The newspaper accepted that it had misreported where the offences were said to have taken place and the complaint was resolved with the removal of the online article and the publication of the following correction:

"Following our article concerning Dr Stephen Hamilton who was convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl, we would like to make clear that, contrary to our report, the offences were not committed at his Bolton practice."
