Complainant Name:
Mrs Sadie Collis

Clauses Noted: 1, 3

Publication: The Sun

Mrs Sadie Collis complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice about an article which reported on her conviction for benefit fraud in 2008. The complainant expressed concern that the article had inaccurately claimed that she had bought a Porsche with money she had obtained from fraud, and that she had stored money in six secret bank accounts.

While the newspaper did not accept any breach of the Code, the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated amendments to the online article in relation to the Porsche and number of undeclared bank accounts.
