Publication: The Mail on Sunday

Jessica Westwood, a jockey and trainer, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice with the publication of an article reporting her recovery from injuries suffered in serious fall from a horse. The complainant had been interviewed for the purposes of the article but felt her comments - particularly in relation to her career and her prognosis following the accident - had been misrepresented.

The newspaper responded substantively to the complaint, explaining how it had come to present the story in the manner it had. The complainant was pleased that the newspaper had acknowledged her concerns and responded comprehensively to the complaint. She was content to resolve the matter on the basis of the reply received.
