Myles Howell complained to the Press Complaints Commission in his capacity as Communications Manager for Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The complainant was concerned that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that staff at two of East Yorkshire's main hospitals acquired free parking if they sacrificed two days of holiday in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following clarification:

"Our article "Anger over plans to axe free parking for workers" (15 February) reported that staff at Hull Royal Infirmary gave up two days of holiday for free parking. We are happy to clarify this is not the case. In return for free parking, staff exchanged two bank holiday Tuesdays (and the associated additional payments) for two days of annual leave. They lost no holiday days as part of this agreement."

The online version of the article was amended and the clarification was also published on the newspaper's website.
