Mr James Arkell complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the magazine had published inaccurate information regarding a situation involving his locomotive in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved when the magazine published the following correction:

‘Binbrook ‘Crab' Correction

Following the publication of the ‘Welcome' in SR409 Steam Railway has been contacted by Jim Arkell, the owner of ‘Crab' 2-6-0 No. 42859, who says that we have been mis-informed about the facts of the situation and he wishes for the following information to be clarified.

Firstly Mr. Arkell says that the parts of the ‘Crab' that have been removed were removed by a third party without his consent and without justification.

Secondly, Mr. Arkell denies the suggestion that he has received any serious offers to purchase the locomotive from him, and also refutes that he has had offers from any preserved railways to rehouse the ‘Crab'. Any discussions were just that and no formal offers have been made.
