Complainant Name:
Mr Graham Eggleton

Clauses Noted: 5

Publication: Daily Echo (Bournemouth)

Mr Graham Eggleton complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which was, in his view, intrusive in breach of Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complainant believed it was insensitive for the newspaper to have published an article about his late brother-in-law, Mr Paul Banyard, without having consulted his family.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated a letter to the complainant's family, from the newspaper, in which it expressed regret for any distress that its article had caused.
