Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1, 5 Publication: Daily Mail Complaint: Michaela Hewett complained to the Press Complaints Commission on behalf of her sister, Nicki Myers, that the newspaper had published an online article reporting the inquest into the death of Izaac Myers which was inaccurate and intrusive in breach of Clauses 1 (Accuracy) and 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper deleted the article, wrote a private letter of apology to Ms Myers and published the following correction on its website: In our report on the inquest into the death of Marlowe Izaac Myers published on 17 January 2013 we incorrectly spelt the victim's name. Ms Myers has also asked us to clarify that she did not make the comments attributed to her after the inquest as previously suggested.Date Published: 28/05/13 << Go Back |
