A woman

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Huddersfield Daily Examiner

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission, under Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice, that an article reporting an action against a convicted criminal under the Proceeds of Crime Act had included information about that individual's previous home, in which she now lived.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following apology:

Following our article of July 5 concerning the recovery of moneys from Mark Francois under the Proceed of Crime Act, we would like to make clear that his house in Sunways, Mirfield, was sold before his conviction in 2012 and we would like to apologise to the new owners of the house for any confusion caused by the publication of the new house.
