Complainant Name:
Mr Graham Holland

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

Complaint:

Mr Graham Holland complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which was, in his view, inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The article reported that ‘a former housekeeper from Asia [had] won 43,000 compensation' following a ‘three-day hearing in Sheffield'.

The complainant, who was said to have bullied a colleague, said it was not the case that he was liable for the full amount of 43,000; rather, the compensation he had to pay was effectively 2,450.

Resolution:

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online headline, as well as a letter from the newspaper, in which it apologised to the complainant for its error.
