Complainant Name:
Mr John Knight

Clauses Noted: 1, 3, 5

Publication: The Sun

Mr John Knight complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which he believed to have been inaccurate and intrusive, in breach of Clauses 1 (Accuracy), 3 (Privacy) and 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

According to the complainant, it was not the case that his cat, Oscar, had led him to the ‘body of a missing pensioner' after a ‘night on the prowl'. The complainant also objected to the publication of his name and age, and believed the article was insensitive.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article.
