Complainant Name:
A woman

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mail

A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had incorrectly labelled a photograph of her on its website in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the newspaper had published a photograph of her claiming it to be of an entirely unrelated individual in an article reporting a matter she had no connection to.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper removed the photograph and published the following apology in addition to a private letter of apology:

An earlier version of this article included a photograph purporting to be of Lucinda Stevens. In fact, the photograph was of a woman who is completely unrelated to this case. We apologise for the error.
