Complainant Name:
Stephen McClay

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Mirror

Complaint:

Stephen McClay, brother of zookeeper Sarah McClay who died when she was killed by a tiger, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published photographs of his family taken at his sister's funeral which he considered intrusive and insensitive in breach of Clause 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

Resolution:

The newspaper promptly removed the photographs under complaint and the matter was resolved when the PCC negotiated a donation to the complainant's chosen charity, the Red Squirrel Survival Trust and the provision of a private letter from the publication.
