Ms Tina Olson complained to the Press Complaints Commission, on behalf of her father Anthony Olson, about an article which she considered to have been inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The article reported that Mr Olson had been ‘caught behind the wheel 90 minutes into a drink-drive ban' although the complainant said it was not the case that he had been ‘picking up fares in his black cab'.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following corrections:

The Sun

In an article "11/2 hours to flout ban", (June 4) we reported that Kent taxi driver Anthony Olson received a 90-day suspended sentence, and a 30-month driving ban, after he was caught ‘behind the wheel' of his cab, ‘picking up fares'. This information was provided to us by Kent Police, who have subsequently acknowledged that when Mr Olson was arrested for driving whilst disqualified, he was not ‘picking up fares'. We are happy to clarify the matter.
