Complaint:

Mr David Lant complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which he considered to have been inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

According to the article, the complainant's co-defendant ‘allegedly ate part of a victim's brain', after a Broadmoor Hospital murder in February 1977. The complainant denied this and provided a pathologist's report to support his position.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the amendment of the online article, so that it no longer referenced the allegation.
