Publication: Sunday Mirror

Mr Adam Morgan complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published a misleading photograph in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant, who worked at the hotel which acted as headquarters for the Conservative Party conference, said that a photograph of him handling a delivery of champagne in the context of a report that the Conservative Party had employed security firm G4S to guard their champagne wrongly implied he worked for G4S. The complainant did not work for G4S; he had been merely unloading the delivery.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated an apology in the following week's newspaper:

Following last week's article "Shamed Security Firm G4S gets top job at Tory Conference" we would like to make clear that the two men pictured carrying crates of champagne into the Midland Hotel before the conference were not G4S employees as implied but, in fact, work for the Hotel. We apologise for any confusion.
