Ms Jean McComb complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article, published by the newspaper, had inaccurately reported that her brother, the late James Bryson, was related to loyalist flag protester Jamie Bryson.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction and apology:

The Sunday World has been contacted by Ms Jean McComb about a story published on June 30 last headlined: ‘Jamie's Cousin the Provo Killer'.

The article mistakenly reported that Ms McComb's brother, Jim Bryson, an IRA man shot and fatally wounded by soldiers in 1973 was related to loyalist flag protester Jamie Bryson.

We now accept Ms McComb's clarification that neither her brother nor her family are, in any way, related to Jamie Bryson, and apologise to them for the error.
