Complainant Name:
Ms Tulisa Contostavlos, Lewis Silkin LLP and Mr Jonathan Coad

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

Ms Tulisa Contostavlos, Lewis Silkin LLP and Mr Jonathan Coad complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article, which reported on legal action brought by Ms Contostavlos in relation to the publication of a "sex tape" online, had misleadingly suggested that this action had been an expensive failure, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following item, in print and online:

Our 6 June article "Tulisa blows it once again" stated that Tulisa had dropped her legal claim against those who published her sex tape online and faced a £270K legal bill. We wish to make clear that while Tulisa has discontinued her damages claim against 8 Defendants after obtaining injunctions against them, she continues to pursue others responsible for damages and costs and expects to recover substantial sums. The action was aimed to remove the tape from the internet and prove that her ex-boyfriend, Justin Edwards, was responsible for leaking it. We are happy to make clear that she has succeeded in both aims.
