Complainant Name:
Mr Elliot Reed and Mr Jim Allen

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: The Sun

Mr Elliot Reed and Mr Jim Allen complained to the Press Complaints Commission, on behalf of the BBC, that an article published by the newspaper had inaccurately suggested that the crew of the television programme "Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents" had wasted £150,000 partying after the subjects of the programme had pulled out, in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice.

The complaint was resolved after the PCC negotiated the publication of the following correction and apology:

"The BBC

In an article ‘Beeb Bums Blow £150k on 10-day Beach Bender" we stated that an episode of Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents was scrapped at the cost of £150k when three potential subjects pulled out. The BBC has informed us that the full series was delivered to its original budgets and £150k was not "blown on a 10-day beach bender". We are happy to put the record straight and apologise for the error."
