Mr Daniel Mears, on behalf of Finchley and Totteridge Car Centre, complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the magazine had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The magazine had reported that the car centre had refused to return a customer's deposit despite Distance Selling Regulations and the promise of a refund. The complainant considered that the article had been misleading as it had failed to mention that the customer had ordered costly repair work on the vehicle.


The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the article from the magazine's website as a gesture of good will.
