Publication: Daily Mirror

Mr Chris Huhne complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article which he considered to have been inaccurate and misleading in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors’ Code of Practice.

The article reported that the complainant had signed an employment contract with Zilkha Biomass Energy (ZBE) to begin work as a company executive. The complainant said it was not the case that this role paid ‘£100,000 a year’.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following update to the online article:

An article on 10 August reported claims that ex-cabinet minister Chris Huhne would get £100,000 a year from his new job with an energy company. We have been told that this figure is incorrect and the actual sum has not yet been disclosed.
