Complainant Name:
Mrs Lynne Parker

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Evening Chronicle (Newcastle upon Tyne)

Mrs Lynne Parker complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant expressed concern that the newspaper had inaccurately reported that filming for the movie "Fury", which involved gunfire and explosions, had continued on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, and had taken place in a local village. In fact, filming stopped at 2am on Remembrance Sunday, there was no filming on Armistice Day, and all filming took place in a confined area on private farm land.

The complaint was resolved when the newspaper apologised for the errors, removed the article from its website and published the following correction:

"Following last week's piece ‘Hollywood is in need of a lesson in respect' it has been brought to my attention the crew stopped filming at 2am on Remembrance Sunday and did not film at 11am. Filming resumed on the 12th November and not the 11th as stated. I apologise for the error and happy to set the record straight."
