Complainant Name:
Iain McKenzie MP

Clauses Noted: 1

Publication: Daily Record

Iain McKenzie MP complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the newspaper had published inaccurate information in breach of Clause 1 (Accuracy) of the Editors' Code of Practice. The complainant said that the newspaper had incorrectly claimed that he had not responded to the newspaper's survey on MPs' views on the impending pay increase. In fact, he had informed the reporter that he would not accept the pay package.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the publication of the following apology:

On 13 December we reported that Iain McKenzie MP had not responded to our survey as to whether Scottish MPs were in favour of their impending pay package. In fact, Mr McKenzie had responded that he would not accept the package. We apologise for this error.
